![8 Best 24/7 AI Receptionists for Contractors in 2026](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/best-24-7-ai-receptionist-software-featured-1024x538.webp)

> Every AI receptionist says 24/7. We compared 8 on who answers at 2 a.m., monthly caps, calls at once, emergency routing and Spanish, with prices checked Sept 2026.

Every vendor on this list says 24/7. The difference shows up on the first cold night, when five people call in the same minute, the monthly allowance is already used up, and the on-call tech is asleep.

We tested the claim against that night. Eight [AI receptionists](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/), compared on the hours your office is closed, with every published price checked this week. The short answer is right below.

## What is the best 24/7 AI receptionist for contractors?

A 24/7 AI receptionist answers a contractor’s calls at any hour, separates emergencies from routine work, and either books the job or gets it to the person on call. They all claim 24/7. They differ on who answers at 2 a.m., how many calls a month are included, how many calls they take at once, and where an emergency goes.

1. [**FieldCamp AI Receptionist**](#1-fieldcamp-ai-receptionist): best when the 2 a.m. emergency has to reach the right on-call tech
2. [**Sameday AI**](#2-sameday-ai): best 24/7 AI CSR for trades on ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro
3. [**Smith.ai**](#3-smith-ai): best when you want a live human reachable at any hour behind the AI
4. [**NextPhone**](#4-nextphone): best for uncapped call volume on a flat monthly plan
5. [**Rosie**](#5-rosie): best low-cost entry for after-hours coverage
6. [**Jobber AI Receptionist**](#6-jobber-ai-receptionist): best if Jobber runs your shop and after-hours volume is light
7. [**Avoca AI**](#7-avoca-ai): best for multi-location ServiceTitan call centres replacing after-hours vendors
8. [**Ruby**](#8-ruby): best when a human must answer every call, holidays included

The question to ask every vendor is simple: *what happens to the 31st emergency call of the month, at 2 a.m., while two other customers are already on the line?*

## Why 24/7 matters more for contractors than for most businesses

A dentist’s after-hours caller can wait until morning. A contractor’s often cannot. No heat in January, a burst pipe, a roof leaking in a storm, a panel that smells of burning, a garage door stuck with the car inside: these calls arrive at night, at weekends and on holidays, and the caller who reaches voicemail rings the next contractor on the list. That is the job an [emergency answering service](https://fieldcamp.ai/answering-service/emergency/) exists to do.

The calls also cluster. The first hard freeze, the first heat wave and a spring storm put a month of emergencies into a few days, often several at the same minute. So for a contractor, 24/7 is really three questions:

1. **Is anyone answering** at 2 a.m. on a Sunday, and is it the AI, a person, or both? ([What after-hours answering covers](https://fieldcamp.ai/answering-service/after-hours/).)
2. **Is it still answering in storm week,** when the monthly allowance runs out and five people call at once? An [AI answering service](https://fieldcamp.ai/answering-service/) should take them in parallel, not in a queue.
3. **Does the emergency reach someone** who can act on it tonight, instead of sitting in a message queue until morning? That depends on the [on-call rotation](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/on-call-rotation-management/) behind the phone.

This guide is about service contractors who get emergency calls: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, garage door, restoration and locksmiths. General contractors and remodelers mostly get estimate requests after hours, which can wait for a callback.

## 24/7 AI receptionist comparison: who answers, call limits and pricing

Allowances and prices below are what each vendor publishes, checked on 25 September 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the table says so. Confirm on the vendor’s own pricing page before you buy.

| Product | Who answers at 2 a.m. | Monthly allowance | After the allowance | Calls at once | Emergency route | Spanish | Published price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| **FieldCamp AI Receptionist** | AI; your own on-call tech as the human | Quoted to call volume | Quoted | 5, 15, 40 or 100, by plan | On-call rotation; moves to the next tech if the page is not acknowledged | Yes, detected automatically | Quoted, not published |
| **Sameday AI** | AI; your team can take over | 500 or 1,000 minutes | Not published | Not published | Emergency line and routing rules | Yes; plan scope not stated | From $449/mo |
| **Smith.ai** | AI; live North America-based receptionist at any hour | 25 calls (Free) or 75+ calls (Pro) | $3.00 or $2.00 per call | Not published | Transfer to a live agent or to you | Yes | Free; Pro $150/mo |
| **NextPhone** | AI; transfers to you | Unlimited calls | No overage | “Multiple”, no number | Routed to your cell | Multilingual | From $199/mo |
| **Rosie** | AI; live transfer from the Scale plan up | 250, 1,000 or 2,000 minutes | Not published | “Multiple”, no number | Email or text alert; waterfall transfer on Growth | Yes | From $49/mo |
| **Jobber AI Receptionist** | AI; transfer or text alert to you | 30 conversations (unlimited on Jobber Plus) | $0.79 per conversation | Not published | Keywords you set trigger a transfer or a text | Not stated | $29/mo add-on to a Jobber plan |
| **Avoca AI** | AI; your CSRs | Quote | Quote | “Many at the same time” | Escalation with the caller’s context | “Multiple languages” | Not published |
| **Ruby** | Humans (AI optional) | 50 to 500 minutes | Not published | Depends on staffing | Message or transfer | Yes | From $250/mo |

### AI only, AI with a human, or human only

Three models sit behind the same “24/7” label. **AI only** means the agent answers every call and hands off to you by transfer or text. **AI with a human behind it** means a vendor’s own staff can take the call the AI cannot, which is Smith.ai’s model. **Human only** means live receptionists on every call, which is Ruby’s model. The human in the loop does not have to be the vendor’s. With FieldCamp it is your own on-call technician or CSR, with the call’s details already captured.

### Caps: minutes, calls, conversations or unlimited

A 24/7 line with a 30-conversation allowance is a different product from one with unlimited calls. Vendors count in four units: **minutes** (Sameday, Rosie, Ruby), **calls** (Smith.ai), **conversations** (Jobber) or **unlimited** (NextPhone). Long emergency calls burn minutes fastest, and a storm month is exactly when you go over. Ask what the 31st call costs before you ask about the first.

### Calls at once: the storm-week number

Concurrency is how many calls can be answered at the same moment. It decides whether your 7 p.m. peak on the first cold night rings through or rings out. Most vendors say “multiple” without a number. FieldCamp publishes its tiers: 5, 15, 40 or 100 calls at once, depending on the plan. Whoever you shortlist, get the number in writing.

## The 8 best 24/7 AI receptionists for contractors

Ranked on how well each one covers the hours your office is closed, not on its daytime feature list. Every entry opens with the same four facts: who answers at night, the monthly allowance, how many calls it takes at once, and the published price, so you can compare them line by line. For a ranking on booking and dispatch instead, see our guide to the [best AI receptionist software](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/best-software/).

### 1. FieldCamp AI Receptionist: best when the 2 a.m. emergency has to reach the right on-call tech

**24/7 verdict:** AI answers every call; your own on-call tech or CSR is the human · **Calls at once:** 5, 15, 40 or 100 by plan · **Pricing:** quoted to your call volume · **Works with:** Jobber, Salesforce Field Service, ServiceTrade, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (two-way); Housecall Pro (read-only); ServiceTitan (job import)

[FieldCamp AI Receptionist](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/) works after hours, at weekends and through peak season. You choose the coverage: after-hours only, overflow only, weekends, or every call, and nights, weekends and peak weeks can be set separately from daytime. Every call it takes shows up in the [call intake feed](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/call-intake) with its category, severity and the job it created.

![FieldCamp AI Receptionist overnight queue: an emergency sent to tonight's board, a commercial call transferred to on-call, a maintenance visit booked, and an unclear call queued for review](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/best-24-7-ai-receptionist-fieldcamp-overnight-queue.webp)One night in FieldCamp’s overnight queue: every call ends as an emergency for tonight, a transfer, a booking or a call held for a person.

#### What happens at 2 a.m.

- **Triage by your rules:** each call is checked against the definitions you mark as urgent. Emergencies go onto tonight’s board; routine work takes the next open slot. A call the agent cannot classify confidently waits for a person in the morning. It does not guess, and it does not wake a technician to find out.
- **The on-call tech gets the details:** name, address, callback number and the problem, attached to the page. See [emergency answering](https://fieldcamp.ai/answering-service/emergency/).
- **If the tech sleeps through it:** the system waits a set window (5 minutes by default), then moves to the next qualified tech in the [on-call rotation](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/on-call-rotation-management/). It checks skills too, so a gas emergency does not go to a plumber without the [licence for it](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/skills-and-hierarchical-skills).
- **Storm week:** calls are handled in parallel rather than queued, from five at once up to a hundred depending on the plan.
- **Spanish:** it detects and speaks Spanish, including Latin American Spanish, and switches automatically.
- **Missed-call text-back:** if a call does go unanswered, the caller gets a text automatically, and the thread lands on the same record in the [unified inbox](https://fieldcamp.ai/unified-inbox/).

![Infographic: a night with FieldCamp AI Receptionist, six calls from 5 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., one page to the on-call technician, four jobs booked without waking anyone and one call held for a person](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/best-24-7-ai-receptionist-night-on-call-infographic.webp)What the on-call technician’s night looks like: six calls, one page, and only for the job that could not wait.Every call is [recorded, transcribed and summarised](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/reviewing-call-recordings-and-summaries), so the morning team sees what happened overnight without listening to voicemail. It runs on [FieldCamp Voice](https://fieldcamp.ai/voice/) over the telephony you already use (Twilio, Telnyx, Plivo, Vonage and others), so you keep your numbers and your carrier.

#### Where it is not the right fit

If your policy is a human voice on every call, Ruby or another live service fits better. It is also a bigger setup than switching on an add-on inside the software you already use: you define the emergency rules, the rotation and the bookable jobs first. And if you want a certified two-way ServiceTitan app, look at Sameday AI or Avoca; FieldCamp imports ServiceTitan job exports.

### Give us your worst night from last winter. We’ll run it through FieldCamp.

On the demo we set up your emergency rules and on-call rotation, then play the calls: the emergency pages the right tech, the routine calls book themselves, and the unclear one waits for your team.

### 2. Sameday AI: best 24/7 AI CSR for trades on ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro

**24/7 verdict:** AI, with your team able to take over · **Allowance:** 500 minutes (Launch) or 1,000 minutes (Scale) · **Pricing:** Launch from $449/mo, Scale from $789/mo, Enterprise custom · **Works with:** ServiceTitan (certified app), Housecall Pro, FieldRoutes, AccuLynx, JobNimbus, MaidCentral, Service Fusion

![Sameday AI phone queues including after-hours leads and an emergency line for nights and weekends, with ring strategy settings](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-sameday-ai-after-hours-queues.webp)Sameday’s phone queues: an after-hours lead queue and an emergency line for nights and weekends. Source: sameday.ai[Sameday AI](https://www.sameday.ai/) answers overflow, after-hours and missed calls, with after-hours menus, VIP routing and ring groups, and an example “Emergency line: Nights and weekends” queue. It covers HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, garage door, locksmith and more, and books straight into the longest list of field service systems in this guide.

**Worth checking:** the allowance is a minute block (see its [pricing page](https://www.sameday.ai/pricing)), and the per-minute rate after it is not published. Storm week burns minutes fastest. Its own blog describes English and Spanish switching, but its pricing page lists “Multilingual voices” under Enterprise, so confirm Spanish on your plan.

### 3. Smith.ai: best when you want a live human reachable at any hour behind the AI

**24/7 verdict:** AI first, with a live receptionist at any hour · **Allowance:** 25 calls (Free), 75 calls and up (Pro) · **Pricing:** Free, then $3.00 per call; Pro $150/mo at $2.00 per call; Enterprise $500/mo · **Works with:** Salesforce, HubSpot, Calendly, Zapier; ServiceTitan on its contractor page

![Smith.ai call dashboard for contractors showing receptionist calls, new leads, existing clients and spam blocked by month](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-smith-ai-contractor-dashboard.webp)Smith.ai’s call dashboard for contractors, month by month. Source: smith.ai[Smith.ai](https://smith.ai/) answers with AI on every plan, around the clock, and can transfer a complex call to a live North America-based receptionist, day or night. When the AI starts the escalation there is no fee; live-agent handling for verification or scheduling is a per-call add-on. English and Spanish are on every [AI Receptionist](https://smith.ai/ai-receptionist) plan.

**Worth checking:** billing is per call, so a storm month costs more. The price of the live-agent add-on is not published, and neither is concurrency.

### 4. NextPhone: best for uncapped call volume on a flat monthly plan

**24/7 verdict:** AI, with transfers to your team · **Allowance:** unlimited calls, no per-minute charges · **Pricing:** Pro $199/mo; Growth from $299/mo; Scale from $599/mo · **Works with:** ServiceTitan, HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Clio; Zapier, Make and webhooks

![NextPhone homepage section on unlimited calls, instant transfers and 14 languages](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-nextphone-unlimited-calls.webp)NextPhone’s flat-rate pitch: unlimited calls, transfers to your team, 14 languages. Source: getnextphone.com[NextPhone](https://www.getnextphone.com/) is the only vendor here with an uncapped published plan: [unlimited calls on every tier](https://www.getnextphone.com/pricing), with no overage. It offers warm and announced transfers, multilingual answering, and emergency detection with routing to your cell.

**Worth checking:** it serves law firms as well as service businesses, so contractor depth such as on-call rotation and booking into Jobber or Housecall Pro is not documented. It says it takes multiple calls at once but does not give a number.

### 5. Rosie: best low-cost entry for after-hours coverage

**24/7 verdict:** AI; live transfer from the Scale plan up · **Allowance:** 250, 1,000 or 2,000 minutes · **Pricing:** Professional $49/mo, Scale $149/mo, Growth $299/mo · **Works with:** Zapier

![Rosie pricing plans: Professional 250 minutes, Scale 1,000 minutes with live transfers, Growth 2,000 minutes with waterfall transfers](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-rosie-plans-minutes-transfers.webp)Rosie’s three plans: the minutes and the transfer features change at each tier. Source: heyrosie.com[Rosie](https://heyrosie.com/) answers 24/7 in English and Spanish, handles multiple calls at the same time, and emails or texts you when an emergency call comes in. The Growth plan adds waterfall transfers, where Rosie tries several numbers until someone answers, which is a real after-hours on-call feature at this price.

**Worth checking:** the $49 plan does not list call transfers on its [pricing page](https://heyrosie.com/pricing), so at 2 a.m. it takes a message and alerts you. Transfers start on the $149 plan. The per-minute rate after the allowance is not published, and native field service integrations are not listed on its own site.

### 6. Jobber AI Receptionist: best if Jobber runs your shop and after-hours volume is light

**24/7 verdict:** AI, with a transfer or text alert to you · **Allowance:** 30 conversations a month (unlimited on Jobber Plus) · **Pricing:** $29/mo add-on, then $0.79 per extra conversation · **Works with:** Jobber

![Jobber AI Receptionist transferring a caller with an emergency to the owner's phone at 2:17 a.m.](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-jobber-emergency-transfer.webp)Jobber transferring an emergency caller straight to the owner’s phone. Source: getjobber.com[Jobber](https://www.getjobber.com/)‘s [AI receptionist](https://www.getjobber.com/features/ai-receptionist/) answers calls and texts 24/7, and you can turn it on only after hours, at weekends or while you are on a job. You set keywords such as “emergency”, “no heat” or “burst pipe”, and it transfers the call straight through or sends you a text alert. Spam calls do not count towards the allowance.

**Worth checking:** 30 conversations is a light month. A freeze or a storm runs into per-conversation charges quickly, unless you are on Jobber Plus. It also requires a Jobber plan. The full comparison is in [FieldCamp vs Jobber AI Receptionist](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/vs-jobber/).

### 7. Avoca AI: best for multi-location ServiceTitan call centres replacing after-hours vendors

**24/7 verdict:** AI, escalating to your CSRs · **Allowance:** quote · **Pricing:** not published; see our [Avoca AI review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/avoca-ai/) · **Works with:** ServiceTitan (certified app), Housecall Pro, FieldRoutes

![Avoca AI product cards: Convert inbound calls 24/7, Nurture with drip campaigns, Coach CSRs with call scores](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ai-receptionist-avoca-ai-convert-nurture-coach.webp)Avoca’s three modules, including its 24/7 inbound answering. Source: avoca.ai[Avoca](https://www.avoca.ai/) works 24/7 and handles many calls, texts and chats at the same time. Its case studies are about consolidation: one customer replaced nine separate call centres and nine after-hours vendors. When its [inbound AI](https://www.avoca.ai/inbound) escalates, it passes who is calling, what they need, their equipment and their tone.

**Worth checking:** it is built for larger contact centres and is quote-only. Its site says “multiple languages”, so confirm Spanish. Compare the two in [FieldCamp vs Avoca AI](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/vs-avoca/).

### 8. Ruby: best when a human must answer every call, holidays included

**24/7 verdict:** live humans, with optional AI · **Allowance:** 50 to 500 minutes · **Pricing:** $250/mo (50 min), $395/mo (100 min), $720/mo (200 min), $1,725/mo (500 min) · **Works with:** mobile app and notifications; no field service system named

[Ruby](https://www.ruby.com/) covers phones 24/7, including after hours, weekends and holidays, with live people on every call and, per its [pricing page](https://www.ruby.com/pricing/), no surcharge for holiday periods. Spanish and bilingual handling are available around the clock.

**Worth checking:** minutes go fast. Fifty minutes is roughly a dozen four-minute calls. The output is a message or an appointment rather than a job in your field service software, and how many calls it takes at once depends on staffing.

## What a storm month costs on each pricing model

An illustration, using published rates only, checked on 25 September 2026. Take a contractor with **40 after-hours calls in a normal month** and **120 in a January freeze**, averaging four minutes a call (160 and 480 minutes).

| Product | How it bills | Normal month (40 calls) | Storm month (120 calls) |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Jobber AI Receptionist** | $29 for 30 conversations, then $0.79 each | $36.90 | $100.10 |
| **Smith.ai Pro** | $150/mo, $2.00 per call | $150 | About $240 |
| **Rosie** | Minute blocks | $49 (no live transfer) | $149 (1,000-minute plan) |
| **NextPhone Pro** | Flat, unlimited calls | $199 | $199 |
| **Sameday AI Launch** | 500-minute block | $449 | $449 (480 of 500 minutes) |
| **Ruby** | Minute blocks, live humans | $720 (200 minutes) | $1,725 (500 minutes) |
| **FieldCamp, Avoca** | Quoted to call volume | Ask for both months in the quote |

Jobber’s figures are on top of the Jobber plan itself. Three things stand out. Capped plans cost the most in exactly the weeks 24/7 exists for. The cheapest normal month is rarely the cheapest storm month. And price is only half of it: a plan that stays cheap by taking messages at 2 a.m. has not answered the emergency.

Angle · Cost

### Price the month you are afraid of, not the average one

Most quotes are built on your average month. The storm-week worksheet puts your own numbers into every pricing model side by side: normal month, surge month, and what each plan does with the call it cannot fit. Take it into every demo.

## How to test a 24/7 AI receptionist before you sign

A daytime demo shows the product at its best. The nights are what you are buying, so test them. Five calls, placed from your own phones, tell you more than any sales deck:

1. **Call at 2 a.m. with a real emergency script.** “No heat, two small kids, it is 18 degrees outside.” Time how long it takes for your on-call tech’s phone to ring, and check what arrives with the page.
2. **Don’t answer the page.** See what happens next: a second tech, a second number, or nothing until morning.
3. **Place three calls in the same minute.** Count how many are answered, and how many hear a ring or a hold message.
4. **Call in Spanish,** on the plan you would actually buy, not the one on the demo account.
5. **Call with something routine at night.** “Can someone look at my water heater next week?” It should book, not wake anyone.

![FieldCamp direct-to-tech paging at 2:14 a.m.: call received, tagged as commercial refrigeration, on-call schedule resolved to a qualified tech, page sent and accepted](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/best-24-7-ai-receptionist-fieldcamp-direct-to-tech-paging.webp)What a passing result looks like: a 2:14 a.m. call tagged, routed past a tech without the right certification, and accepted by the one who has it. Source: [FieldCamp on-call rotation](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/on-call-rotation-management/)Write down the results for every vendor on the same sheet. The differences show up in the second and third test, which is exactly where most demos stop.

## Holidays, weekends and peak season: set coverage by schedule

“24/7” is really a calendar. The nights you need covered are not the same in March and in January, and they are not the same for a roofer and a plumber. The contractors who get the most out of an AI receptionist set their coverage to the year they actually have.

### Match the coverage to the moment

- **A normal weeknight:** after-hours only. Your office answers through the day, and the AI takes over when it closes.
- **A busy weekday:** overflow. Your CSR answers first, and when every line is engaged the call rings through to the AI instead of into voicemail.
- **Storm week, or a holiday with a skeleton crew:** every call, so no customer waits while your people are out on jobs.

### Know your trade’s hard weeks

- **HVAC:** the first hard freeze and the first heat wave, when no-heat and no-cooling calls arrive together.
- **Plumbing:** the freeze and the thaw after it, when burst pipes surface days later.
- **Roofing and restoration:** storm and hurricane season, when one night of wind produces a week of leak calls.
- **Electrical:** storms and outages, when power loss and generator calls arrive at once.
- **Garage door and locksmith:** holidays and travel weekends, when a stuck door or a lockout cannot wait for Monday.

### The night before each one

Before every holiday and every forecast freeze or storm, check three things: call forwarding is set, tonight’s on-call name is right, and someone has placed a test call after hours. In FieldCamp the after-hours window is a schedule setting, so holiday exceptions go into your [business schedule](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/business-schedule-and-working-hours) once, not into a forwarding change every time. For trade-specific setups, see the AI receptionist for [HVAC](https://fieldcamp.ai/hvac-software/ai-receptionist/), [plumbing](https://fieldcamp.ai/plumbing-software/ai-receptionist/) and [electrical](https://fieldcamp.ai/electrician-software/ai-receptionist/) contractors.

## How to choose a 24/7 AI receptionist: six questions

1. **Who answers at 2 a.m., and who is the human fallback?** The vendor’s staff, your on-call tech, or voicemail?
2. **What is the monthly allowance, and what does the 31st storm call cost?** Get the rate after the cap in writing.
3. **How many calls at once?** “Multiple” is not a number.
4. **What happens if the on-call tech does not pick up?** A second tech, a second number, or a message?
5. **Does it speak Spanish on your plan,** or only on the top tier?
6. **Where does the booking land?** Two-way sync with your field service software, read-only, or an import?

### Ask us those six questions on a live demo

Leave your work email and pick a time. We answer each one on screen with your own rules loaded: who answers, what the allowance is, how many calls at once, who gets paged, Spanish, and where the job lands.

## When 24/7 AI is the wrong choice

If you get two or three after-hours calls a month and you are happy to take them yourself, a 24/7 service is more than you need. If every call needs a price only you can give, the agent will mostly take messages. And if your customers expect a named person, such as facilities managers on commercial contracts, a live service is the honest recommendation. Many contractors run both: the AI covers nights, overflow and storm weeks, and their own people take the calls that need judgement.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Is there a truly 24/7 AI receptionist for contractors?**

Yes. Every product in this guide answers around the clock. The differences are in the monthly allowance, how many calls it takes at once, and whether the emergency reaches a person tonight or waits in a message queue. NextPhone publishes unlimited calls; Jobber includes 30 conversations; Sameday, Rosie and Ruby sell minute blocks; FieldCamp and Avoca quote to call volume.

**What is the best AI answering service for after-hours emergency calls?**

The one that gets the emergency to someone who can act on it. FieldCamp AI Receptionist triages by your rules, pages the on-call technician with the details attached, and moves to the next qualified tech if the page is not acknowledged. Smith.ai adds a live receptionist behind the AI, and Ruby puts a human on every call.

**Do AI receptionists work on holidays and weekends?**

Yes. That is the main reason contractors buy them. Most let you set coverage by schedule, for example after hours only on weekdays and every call on holidays. Check whether holiday calls count against a monthly allowance.

**How many calls can an AI receptionist answer at the same time?**

It depends on the vendor and the plan, and most do not publish a number. FieldCamp handles 5, 15, 40 or 100 calls at once depending on the plan. Rosie, NextPhone and Avoca say multiple or many. Ask for the number in writing before storm season.

**How much does a 24/7 AI receptionist cost for a contractor?**

Published prices in this guide start at a $29/mo Jobber add-on with 30 conversations, $49/mo for Rosie, $150/mo for Smith.ai Pro, $199/mo for NextPhone and $449/mo for Sameday AI. Ruby’s live service starts at $250/mo for 50 minutes. FieldCamp and Avoca quote to call volume. Price your storm month, not your average one.

**Can an AI receptionist send emergency calls to my on-call technician?**

Yes, if you define what counts as an emergency. Jobber transfers or texts on keywords you set, Rosie emails or texts you, and FieldCamp routes to the on-call technician with the name, address, callback number and problem attached, then escalates to the next qualified tech if nobody acknowledges. See [on-call rotation](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/on-call-rotation-management/).

**Can a 24/7 AI receptionist speak Spanish?**

Several can. FieldCamp detects and speaks Spanish, including Latin American Spanish, automatically. Smith.ai and Rosie include English and Spanish, and Ruby offers bilingual handling. Sameday lists multilingual voices on its Enterprise plan, so confirm it on yours.

### Two sheets for planning 24/7 coverage

The storm-week worksheet shows what your normal month and your worst month cost on each pricing model. The coverage planner maps the year’s holidays and peak-weather weeks for your trade, with a coverage choice for each and a checklist for the night before. Both arrive in your inbox as PDFs.

### Nights, weekends and storm weeks, answered

FieldCamp AI Receptionist triages by your rules, pages the right on-call tech, escalates when nobody answers, and puts every overnight call in front of your team in the morning.
