![Knowify alternatives compared - FieldCamp, BuildOps, ServiceTitan and Werx](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/feature-1-1024x559.png)

Knowify is good at one thing in particular: contract work. Bidding it, costing it, and invoicing it — including AIA billing, which it produces from its entry plan. Most contractors who go looking for an alternative are not unhappy with that. They are running into one of three edges. We score the product itself in [our Knowify review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/knowify/); this page is about where to go instead.

## How We Compared These Knowify Alternatives

Every figure below was read from each vendor’s own published pricing on 1 September 2026. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say so rather than estimating — and three of the eight publish nothing at all, which is a finding in itself when you are trying to budget.

We ranked on five things: what the entry plan actually includes, what sits behind an add-on, whether service work and contract work can run in one system, whether the platform produces AIA forms, and how much of the monthly admin the software does without being asked.

## What Is Knowify, and Why Look for an Alternative?

Knowify is contractor management software built around the contract job. Its Core plan is described in Knowify’s own words as “bid, execute, and invoice for fixed-price and AIA jobs,” and the Advanced tier adds “powerful project management and job costing tools.”

Three reasons contractors look elsewhere:

- **The entry plan includes one user.** Core is $99/month billed yearly and covers a single login. Additional users are $29/month each, so a ten-person shop on Core pays $360/month — **more than the Advanced plan at $329**. The crossover is the ninth user.
- **Service work is a paid add-on.** Dispatching, equipment history, appointment reminders, payment processing and inventory all sit inside **Service Pro** at $99/month yearly or $199 monthly. If a third or more of your revenue is service calls, you are buying a contract engine and renting the dispatching separately.
- **Inventory is gated to an unpriced tier.** It appears on Enterprise, which Knowify does not price publicly. You cannot budget for it without a sales conversation.

## Who Are Knowify’s Biggest Competitors?

In the [commercial electrical](https://fieldcamp.ai/electrician-software/) and mechanical category, the names that come up alongside Knowify are BuildOps, ServiceTitan, Werx, Procore and FieldCamp, with Jobber and Housecall Pro appearing whenever the work is lighter or more service-led.

## Which Knowify Alternative Is Right for You? (Quick Picks by Need)

- **You want the admin to run itself** — FieldCamp
- **You run large commercial construction with an ERP behind you** — BuildOps
- **Your service volume is bigger than your project volume** — ServiceTitan
- **AIA billing is the whole requirement** — Werx, or stay on Knowify
- **You need one simple system for lighter commercial and service routes** — Jobber
- **Your work is mostly residential service** — Housecall Pro
- **The general contractor already runs a platform you have to live inside** — Procore

## What You’ll Actually Pay vs Knowify (10 Users, Year One)

| Platform | Entry price | Users included | 10-user cost/month | Publishes pricing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Knowify** Advanced | $99/mo (Core, 1 user) | 10 on Advanced | **$329** + $99 Service Pro = **$428** | Yes, in full |
| **FieldCamp** Growth | $249/mo (Pro, 3 users) | 10 | **$559** billed annually | Yes, in full |
| **BuildOps** | Not published | — | Quote only | **No** |
| **ServiceTitan** | Not published | — | Quote only | **No** |
| **Werx** | $49/mo, 10 active projects | unlimited | **~$143** (Plus + 9 users at $6) | Yes, in full |
| **Procore** | Not published | — | Quote only | **No** |

Read from each vendor’s own pricing page, 1 September 2026. Knowify’s monthly-billing option raises the same 10-user setup to $598/month, a 40% premium over annual. Two things worth noticing. Knowify is genuinely competitive on price for contract work — $5,136 in year one for ten users with Service Pro. And **three of the eight platforms here will not tell you what they cost** until you have taken a sales call.

## What Knowify does that none of these replace

Before the list, the other side of the ledger — a comparison that only lists grievances is not one you should trust.

**AIA billing from the $99 entry plan.** Knowify’s own Core description is “bid, execute, and invoice for fixed-price and AIA jobs.” Most field service platforms manage [staged invoicing](https://fieldcamp.ai/electrician-software/best-invoicing/) but cannot produce a formal G702 or G703 at any price. Among the platforms below, Werx is the only one built around the same forms.

**Job costing as the product, not a report.** The Advanced tier exists, in Knowify’s words, for “powerful project management and job costing tools” — cost tracked against the original estimate while the job runs, not a revenue dashboard after it closes.

**Every price is published, add-ons included.** Base plans, the $29 per-user rate, and each add-on are on the page. Three of the eight platforms below will not tell you what they cost until you have taken a sales call.

If most of your revenue is fixed-price contract work, staying on Knowify is often the right answer. The list is for contractors hitting the edges.

## Top 8 Knowify Alternatives in 2026

Every price below was read from the vendor’s own pricing page on 1 September 2026. Where a vendor publishes nothing we say so — three of the eight do not.

### 1. FieldCamp — Best for contractors who want the monthly admin to run itself

The complaints FieldCamp is built against are the ones contractors repeat in the same words: the month-two invoice that gets made by opening month one’s and editing it, the variation that was approved in week three and never billed, the margin you only learn about after handover, when nothing can be done about it.

Here is what replaces that, told end to end. A job stage completes. The next staged invoice is drafted against the schedule — with the week-three variation already on it, and the change flagged, so you can see exactly what moved before anything goes out. You approve, it sends. That is the pattern throughout: the software does the drafting, the judgement stays with you.

**Pricing:** [published in full](https://fieldcamp.ai/pricing/) — Pro $249/mo (3 users), Growth $699/mo (10 users), Scale $1,499/mo (20 users), Enterprise custom. Annual billing is 20% off, putting Growth at $559/mo. Extra users are $83, $70 and $75 depending on tier.

**Against Knowify:** more expensive at ten users — $559 against Knowify’s $428 with Service Pro — and that is the fair comparison. What the difference buys is the drafting: Knowify gives you good tools to do the month’s admin, FieldCamp does the admin and asks you to check it.

**Not for you if** you need AIA payment applications, certified payroll, or a Sage or Viewpoint connector. None of the three exist.

### 2. BuildOps — Best for large commercial construction with an ERP behind it

The most complete answer if your work is capital projects and your back office already runs a construction ERP. BuildOps syncs field data — time tracking, purchase orders, invoicing — into Sage, Viewpoint and QuickBooks job costing and payroll modules, in both directions. Almost nothing else marketed to trade contractors connects to a construction ERP at all.

Dispatch is matched to the technician by skill, certification and availability, which matters on commercial work where an uncertified tech arriving means the cutover slips. Live labour and material tracking flags margin drift while the job is still running rather than at the post-mortem.

**Pricing:** not published. The pricing page is a form headed “Get Personalized Pricing”, and the stated process is a discovery call within 24 hours followed by a personalised demo. No entry tier, no per-user rate, no free trial.

**Against Knowify:** same buyer, larger scale, opposite transparency. Knowify tells you it starts at $99 and does AIA from that plan. BuildOps tells you nothing until you have taken a sales call.

**Not for you if** you are a smaller shop wanting to self-serve, or you need to budget before entering a sales cycle.

### 3. ServiceTitan — Best when service volume outweighs project volume

Deep dispatch boards, enterprise reporting, marketing attribution and QuickBooks integration, aimed at contractors running significant service alongside project work. The inverse of Knowify’s shape: service-first with project capability, rather than contract-first with service sold as an add-on.

It is [the most feature-complete platform in this list](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/servicetitan/) and the most demanding to run. Implementation is long, and getting value from the reporting generally needs dedicated admin staff.

**Pricing:** not published. ServiceTitan also publishes no subscription agreement — its legal page lists only terms of use, API terms, an app-marketplace guide and a partner-program agreement.

**Against Knowify:** Knowify makes you pay extra for dispatching through Service Pro; ServiceTitan makes you pay for dispatch depth whether or not you use it. Your revenue mix decides this one, not the feature list.

**Not for you if** your revenue is mostly fixed-price contract work, or you want a number before a sales conversation.

### 4. Werx — Best when AIA billing is the requirement and you want the price up front

The most interesting comparison in this list, because Werx attacks Knowify on exactly its weakest point: add-ons. Werx puts **every feature on every plan** and charges by active projects rather than by user.

It is purpose-built around AIA billing, schedules of values and retainage, alongside time-and-materials service invoicing. If G702 and G703 payment applications are what your general contractors demand, this is the specialist — though it is worth remembering Knowify produces AIA billing from its entry plan too, so this is a switch to test rather than assume.

**Pricing:** Essential $49/mo for 10 active projects, Plus $89/mo for 20, and Unlimited $119/mo with no cap. Additional users are **$6/mo**, or $4/mo for time-only users. Free setup help, mobile apps and unlimited email support are on every plan.

**Against Knowify:** dramatically cheaper per person. Knowify charges $29 per extra login, Werx charges $6. A ten-person shop on Werx Plus is $89 plus nine users at $6 — roughly $143/month, against Knowify’s $428 with Service Pro.

**Not for you if** you run a high volume of concurrent projects. The caps are on active projects, so the arithmetic can invert on you the same way Knowify’s user pricing does.

### 5. Service Fusion — Best for shops with a lot of light-touch logins

Unlimited users on every tier, which is a genuinely different philosophy from Knowify’s $29 per login. If you have office staff, apprentices and subcontractors who all need to see a job but do not need the whole platform, the per-seat maths stops mattering entirely.

[Service Fusion](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/service-fusion/) is strong on the service side — scheduling, dispatch, estimates, invoicing, GPS fleet tracking and their ServiceCall.ai product. Thinner than Knowify on contract jobs, phases and AIA.

**Pricing:** Starter $208/mo, Plus $325/mo and Pro $533/mo billed annually, or $245, $382 and $627 billed monthly. Unlimited users on all three.

**Against Knowify:** more expensive at the entry point, cheaper the moment headcount grows, and weaker on contract work. A fifteen-person shop pays Service Fusion $208 and Knowify $505.

**Not for you if** your work is bid, phased and billed against a schedule of values.

### 6. Housecall Pro — Best for residential service teams

[Housecall Pro](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/housecall-pro/) is strong on the residential service day: scheduling, quotes, dispatch, invoicing and payments in one app technicians pick up without training. A reasonable landing spot if you looked at Knowify and realised your work is not actually contract-shaped.

**Pricing:** Basic $59/mo annual or $79 monthly for one user; Essentials $149/$189 for five users then $100/mo each; MAX $299/$329 for eight users then $75/mo each. 14-day trial with no card required. Card processing from 2.59%, and 1% on bank payments.

**Against Knowify:** cheaper to start and far easier to roll out, with no contract-job spine underneath it. Worth noting that MAX is not unlimited users, despite how it is often described.

**Not for you if** you need job costing by phase, or any form of progress billing.

### 7. Jobber — Best for lighter commercial and service routes

[Jobber](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/jobber/) offers clean scheduling, routing and a quote-to-invoice flow that works without training, and is one of the easiest platforms here to get a team actually using. Not built for multi-phase project work — there is no contract-job structure underneath it.

**Pricing:** Core, Connect and Grow tiers starting around $29/mo. Jobber’s pricing page is dynamic — figures move with team size, billing period and whatever promotion is running — so confirm your own numbers on the day rather than trusting any published comparison, this one included.

**Watch for** the annual commitment billed monthly. The contract reads that you are purchasing a one-year subscription payable in twelve monthly instalments, so cancelling early is notice of non-renewal rather than an exit.

**Against Knowify:** a step sideways in scope rather than a like-for-like swap. Cheaper, simpler, and no contract jobs.

### 8. Procore — Best when the general contractor already runs it

Built for the GC rather than the subcontractor. Excellent on RFIs, submittals, drawings and daily reports; thin on the estimate-to-cash chain an electrical or mechanical subcontractor lives on.

Most subcontractors end up in Procore because a client requires it, not because they chose it, and it usually sits alongside their own system rather than replacing it. Budget for running two platforms rather than one.

**Pricing:** not published. Tiers exist but no figure appears on the pricing page.

**Against Knowify:** not really a competitor. Knowify runs your business, Procore runs your client’s project, and contractors frequently run both.

## What actually breaks when you switch

Five things cause most of the pain, and every one is avoidable if you ask before you cancel.

- **Export before you cancel — and get the answer in writing.** Ask each vendor what you receive on the way out — customers, jobs, invoices, documents — and in what format. Policies differ and change, so do not rely on anyone’s summary. Our guide to [cancelling ServiceTitan](https://fieldcamp.ai/blog/how-to-cancel-servicetitan/) shows how involved this part alone can get.
- **Open contract jobs are the hard part, not the closed ones.** History imports cleanly. A job mid-phase — part-billed against a schedule of values, retainage held — has to be rebuilt by hand in the new system. Count your open jobs before you pick a date.
- **AIA history does not convert.** A platform that does not produce G702/G703 has nowhere to put your payment-application history. Keep the exports, and ask whether the old account can stay read-only through your retention period.
- **Reconcile the customer list before connecting the accounting sync.** Matching runs on email address, so two spellings of one customer become two customers, and the duplicates hit your books. Clean the list first, connect second.
- **Pick a cutover date and close the month.** Reconcile and close the prior month in the old system; start the new month in the new one. Straddling a billing period is where the mess comes from.

None of this argues against moving. It argues for asking these questions while both systems still work.

## Knowify vs the alternatives: quick verdicts

### Knowify vs FieldCamp

Knowify is stronger on contract mechanics — AIA forms, schedules of values, the bid-to-contract flow — and at ten users it is cheaper: $428 with Service Pro against FieldCamp Growth at $559 billed annually. FieldCamp is stronger on what happens after the tools are bought. The staged invoice drafts itself when the stage completes, the approved variation is already on it, and the week’s timesheets are reviewed before payroll rather than after. Pick Knowify if AIA is non-negotiable or the budget is fixed. Pick FieldCamp if the pain is that the admin only happens when somebody remembers to do it.

### Knowify vs BuildOps

Same buyer, different scale, opposite transparency. Knowify publishes everything and starts at $99/month for one user, with AIA billing from that plan. BuildOps publishes nothing — the pricing page is a form, and the route in is a discovery call followed by a personalised demo. What you get for the opacity is depth Knowify does not have: two-way sync into Sage and Viewpoint job costing and payroll, and dispatch matched to certifications on commercial work. If your back office runs a construction ERP, take the sales call. If you want the price before the call, that is Knowify by default.

### Knowify vs ServiceTitan

Contract-first versus service-first. Knowify makes you pay extra for dispatching through Service Pro; ServiceTitan makes you pay for dispatch depth, enterprise reporting and marketing attribution whether or not you use them — and it publishes no price at all, so the comparison starts with a sales call. The shapes are opposites: Knowify assumes revenue arrives as bid contracts with service on the side, ServiceTitan assumes the reverse and is the more demanding platform to run. Your revenue mix decides this one, not the feature list — and if you reach the end of a ServiceTitan sales cycle still unsure, we keep a separate list of [ServiceTitan alternatives](https://fieldcamp.ai/alternatives/servicetitan/).

### Knowify vs Werx

The sharpest pricing contrast here, because the two charge along different axes. Knowify caps users — $29 for each extra login — while Werx caps active projects and charges $6 per extra user, or $4 for time-only users. Werx also puts every feature on every plan, where Knowify holds service work behind Service Pro and inventory behind an unpriced Enterprise tier. Both produce AIA payment applications, so the choice is structural rather than about capability. A ten-person shop lands around $143 on Werx Plus against $428 on Knowify with Service Pro. High headcount and few concurrent projects favours Werx; run many projects at once and the caps can invert the arithmetic on you.

### Knowify vs Service Fusion

Per-user pricing against unlimited users. Knowify charges $29 for every extra login; Service Fusion includes unlimited users on every tier, so the comparison flips with headcount. At the entry point Service Fusion costs more — $208/month against Knowify’s $99 — but a fifteen-person shop still pays Service Fusion $208 while Knowify reaches $505. The trade is depth on contract work: Service Fusion is service-led — scheduling, dispatch, GPS fleet tracking — and thinner on phases, job costing and AIA. If your roster is full of light-touch logins and the work is service-shaped, Service Fusion wins the maths; if the work is bid and billed in stages, it does not replace Knowify.

**Running contract work and service work in one system**

If your revenue is split between bid contracts and service calls, the add-on maths matters more than the headline price. Book a walkthrough and we will model your own mix — the jobs, the visits, the staged invoices and the hours — on your data rather than a demo dataset.

## Frequently asked questions

**

### What is the best Knowify alternative?

**

Depends which edge you hit. Admin you want drafted automatically — **FieldCamp**. Large commercial construction with a Sage or Viewpoint ERP — **BuildOps**. Service volume bigger than project volume — **ServiceTitan**. AIA billing specifically — **Werx**, though Knowify already does AIA from its entry plan.

**

### Why do contractors leave Knowify?

**

Three reasons. Core includes one user and extras are $29/month, so the ninth user is the crossover ($331 vs $329) and ten people costs $360. Service work sits behind Service Pro at $99–$199/month. And inventory is only on the unpriced Enterprise tier.

**

### How much does Knowify cost compared with the alternatives?

**

Knowify Advanced + Service Pro is **$428/month** billed yearly for ten users — $5,136 in year one. FieldCamp Growth is **$559/month** billed annually for ten. BuildOps, ServiceTitan, Werx and Procore publish nothing.

**

### Does Knowify do AIA billing?

**

Yes, from the entry plan — “bid, execute, and invoice for fixed-price and AIA jobs.” Uncommon: most field service platforms support staged invoicing but cannot produce a formal G702 or G703.

**

### Is Knowify good for service work?

**

It exists, behind the Service Pro add-on — dispatching, equipment history, reminders, payments, inventory. Knowify is built around the contract job, so a service-led business is effectively paying for two products.

**

### Which Knowify alternatives publish their pricing?

**

Knowify, FieldCamp, Werx, Service Fusion, Housecall Pro and Jobber do. BuildOps, ServiceTitan and Procore require a sales call. Knowify publishing base plans, per-user cost *and* every add-on is unusual here.

**

### What is the difference between Knowify and BuildOps?

**

Same buyer, different scale, opposite transparency. Knowify publishes everything from $99/month for one user. BuildOps publishes nothing, targets larger commercial construction, integrates Sage and Viewpoint, and claims 1,500+ commercial contractors.

**

### Can any of these run contract work and service work in one system?

**

FieldCamp and ServiceTitan both handle a mixed base without a separate module. Knowify needs Service Pro. BuildOps and Procore lean construction. The test: what share of last year’s revenue was bid contract work? Below about half and a contract-first platform is the wrong shape.
