# Podium Alternatives for Contractors: 8 Options Compared (2026)

**Podium is a customer communication platform for local businesses, built around review generation, webchat, two-way texting, calls and payments.** Almost every contractor who buys it does so for one of three jobs — and pays for all three.

1. **Review generation and reputation** — automated review requests after a completed job, plus somewhere to monitor and respond to what comes back.
2. **Messaging, webchat and the shared customer thread** — two-way texting, the website chat widget, and one inbox your CSRs work out of.
3. **The phone system** — calls, missed-call text-back, recordings and voicemail.

**Before you compare anything, name which of the three you would actually miss.** That question decides your shortlist, because no two tools here replace the same combination. Most “Podium alternatives” lists skip it and hand you eight products in a row, which is how contractors end up buying a reputation platform when their real problem was unanswered calls.

**Disclosure:** FieldCamp is [field service management software](https://fieldcamp.ai/) with customer communication built in. We compete with Podium on job two and part of job three. Job one isn’t ours — we’ll point you elsewhere for it below.

## What is Podium software used for?

**Podium software is used to collect Google reviews after a completed job, answer website chat, and run all customer texting from a single shared inbox.** Its more recent push is Podium AI — an “AI Employee” that answers webchat and texts automatically and tries to book work without a human. The Podium app puts the same inbox on a phone so owners and CSRs can reply from the field.

**Is Podium a CRM?** Not in the usual sense. It keeps a contact record and the conversation history attached to it, but it isn’t a sales CRM like Salesforce or HubSpot, and it isn’t a field service system — it holds no jobs, schedules, estimates or invoices. That distinction decides how big your replacement project is. If you only need the conversation, you’re swapping one tool. If you need the conversation to sit beside the job, you’re looking at something structurally different.

**What kind of company is Podium?** A private, venture-backed software company co-founded by Eric Rea, who is still CEO. It’s an established business with thousands of local-business customers — the complaints you’ll find online are about contract terms and pricing, not legitimacy.

## How much does Podium cost?

**Podium does not publish its prices.** Its pricing page — [podium.com/getpricing](https://www.podium.com/getpricing), the page its own navigation links to as “Plans” — carries no figures at all. It asks you to select your industry and offers a “Get custom quote” button under the line *“Choose your industry. We’ll help you find the right plan.”* Checked 14 August 2026.

That matters more than it sounds. **Every Podium price you will read anywhere — including in this article — is a third-party estimate, not a figure Podium publishes.** Review sites commonly report a Core tier around $399 per month and a Pro tier around $599, with single-location businesses landing somewhere between $500 and $800 once add-ons, message overages and carrier fees are counted. We could not confirm any of it from Podium, and several of the sites reporting those numbers sell competing products. Treat the range as a negotiating starting point, not a price. We go through the pricing, the contract terms and the user complaints in full in our [Podium review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/).

Since the number isn’t published, the useful preparation is knowing what to ask for in writing:

- The plan price for **your trade and your number of locations**
- The **carrier fee for business texting** (A2P 10DLC — explained below)
- What **message volumes and AI minutes** are included, and the overage rate past them
- **Per-user and per-extra-number** charges
- The **contract length, renewal date and notice period** required to cancel

Contractors who skip that list are the ones surprised at renewal.

## Why contractors look for a Podium alternative

**Four reasons come up repeatedly:**

- **Cost relative to use** — a three-truck shop on a full plan is paying for all three jobs and using one.
- **Annual terms** — contracts are commonly annual with auto-renewal, and yours doesn’t end when your reason for buying it does. Check your renewal date before anything else.
- **Split customer data** — messages live in Podium, jobs live in your field service software, and neither view is complete when the phone rings.
- **Integration risk** — a connection between two companies you don’t control can end on someone else’s timetable, as contractors running ServiceTitan found out in August 2026.

## Podium alternatives compared

| Tool | Best for | Core strength | Works with ServiceTitan | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Podium** (baseline) | All three jobs bundled | Review generation at scale | No listing as of 14 Aug 2026 | Not published — quote only |
| **NiceJob** | Replacing reviews only, cheapest | Review generation | Not listed | $75/mo |
| **Birdeye** | Replacing reviews, or the whole bundle | Reputation breadth | Listed, not marked certified | Not published |
| **Swell** | Healthcare groups, not contractors | HIPAA-compliant reputation | Not listed | Not published |
| **FieldCamp** | Replacing messaging and the customer thread | Inbox and AI receptionist on the job record | No — replaces the FSM instead | See pricing |
| **Broadly** | Messaging plus local SEO and reviews | Google visibility | Not listed | $799/mo |
| **Weave** | Healthcare practices, not contractors | Practice communication | Not listed | From $199/mo |
| **Signpost** | Replacing the phone system | AI plus live human answering | Not listed | $199/mo + $199 setup |
| **CHIIRP** | Staying on ServiceTitan | Certified follow-up on real ST data | **Yes — “Certified Application”** | Not published |

Marketplace status checked on [marketplace.servicetitan.com](https://marketplace.servicetitan.com/), 14 August 2026. “Not listed” means no partner page found, not that the vendor can’t be connected another way.

## If you’re replacing review generation and reputation

**This is the segment FieldCamp doesn’t lead, so we’ll deal with it first and honestly.** FieldCamp includes a review-request template you send from the same place as the job. For automated review campaigns with tracked links, monitoring and response management, pair it with a dedicated review tool — NiceJob at $75/mo is the usual answer, which puts the full stack at $324 in published, checkable prices against whatever Podium quotes you. Three vendors own this job properly.

### 1. NiceJob

**NiceJob is a review generation and reputation marketing tool at $75 per month for Reviews and $125 per month for Pro — the cheapest credible answer to the job most contractors actually bought Podium for.** Prices are published openly on [its pricing page](https://get.nicejob.com/pricing), with a 14-day trial, no contracts and no card up front.

![NiceJob employee leaderboard showing team members, review counts, and average ratings](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/image-3-1024x465.png)NiceJob names HVAC, plumbing, window cleaning and landscaping among the trades it serves. It’s review-focused by design — not a phone system, not a shared inbox. That narrowness is the point: a published $75 against a Podium quote you have to ask for is a straightforward comparison to run. If you also need messaging and calls, you’re buying two products, so price the pair.

**Skip it if:** your CSRs live in Podium’s inbox all day.

### 2. Birdeye

**Birdeye is a reputation and customer experience platform and the closest thing to a like-for-like Podium replacement on this page — reviews, messaging, webchat, surveys and social in one bundle.** It’s the answer if you want to change vendor without changing how you operate.

![Reviews and ratings dashboard showing review trends, rating distribution, and performance charts](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/c0fb5546-a074-4ea3-8255-91d6a519ff19_4x-1-1024x691.png)Birdeye doesn’t publish prices either. Its [pricing page](https://birdeye.com/pricing/) is a form asking how many locations you have. Third-party sites report tiers in the $299–$449 per month range, per location, on annual billing — attributed, not verified, and several of those sites sell competing products.

Birdeye does have a [listing on ServiceTitan’s marketplace](https://marketplace.servicetitan.com/partner/birdeye) under Marketing and Integration. It is **not** labelled a Certified Application there — worth asking about directly rather than assuming either way.

**Skip it if:** cost was your reason for leaving. Birdeye is priced in the same neighbourhood.

### 3. Swell

**Swell is a healthcare reputation and patient experience platform, pitched on its own site at “multi-location MSOs, DSOs, and specialty healthcare groups.”** It automates review invitations, drafts HIPAA-compliant responses and clusters feedback themes across locations. It publishes no pricing on [its pricing page](https://www.swellcx.com/pricing).

![Sales reporting dashboard showing sales by day, customer metrics, orders, revenue, and reporting options](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/3cee0dea-9c4f-4164-a0d8-ba15e6ef3f78_4x-1-1024x512.png)**Skip it if:** you are a contractor. It appears on most Podium alternative lists and shouldn’t.

## If you’re replacing messaging, webchat and the customer thread

**The question here isn’t which tool sends texts — it’s where the conversation lives, and what your CSRs can see beside it when a customer calls.**

### 4. FieldCamp

**FieldCamp is field service management software with customer communication built into the same system as jobs, dispatch and invoicing, so the message thread sits on the customer and job record rather than in a separate product.** Here’s the map against what people actually use Podium for.

| What people use Podium for | FieldCamp |
|---|---|
| Two-way SMS with customers | Yes |
| Webchat widget on your site | Yes |
| Unified inbox across channels | Yes — SMS, email, webchat, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DM, voice |
| Phone / calls | Yes |
| Payments, invoice by text | Yes, via Stripe |
| AI answering inbound calls | Yes — AI receptionist with after-hours and fallback modes |
| Missed-call text-back | Different — the AI answers the call rather than letting it go missed |
| Review generation & reputation | Review-request template included; pair with a dedicated review tool for automated campaigns |
| Google Business Messages channel | No — Facebook and Instagram, not Google |

**The missed-call row is a difference in mechanism, not a missing feature.** Missed-call text-back starts after the call has already been missed: the customer hung up, and you’re racing to text them back first. FieldCamp’s [AI receptionist](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-receptionist/) answers the call instead, in after-hours and overflow modes, so there’s no missed call to recover from. If your criterion is literally “does it text people back when I miss a call,” read that row as a no.

![](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/fieldcamp-unified-inbox-customer-communication-native-fsm-1.png-1-1024x508.png)**The conversation attaches to the job, not just the contact.** Podium isn’t a field service system, so it has no job to attach a conversation to — the best it can do is sit beside one through an integration. FieldCamp is the field service system, so a CSR opening a thread sees the open job, the scheduled visit, the assigned tech and the full job history in the same view as the message. That’s the difference when someone calls asking “is he still coming?”

The rest is ordinary plumbing: a [unified inbox](https://fieldcamp.ai/unified-inbox/) ([two-way texting](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/inbox/two-way-text-messaging), [inbox overview](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/inbox/inbox-overview)), a webchat widget and [online booking](https://fieldcamp.ai/online-booking/) ([install guide](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/online-booking/adding-the-booking-widget-to-your-website)), and [invoices and estimates](https://fieldcamp.ai/invoicing-software/) by text with Stripe payments.

**Skip it if:** you’re happy with your current FSM and only want to swap the comms layer. Changing field service software to fix a texting problem is a large project for a small reason.

### 5. Broadly

**Broadly is an all-in-one platform for local service businesses focused on Google visibility, review volume and converting website visitors, with webchat, SMS and review automation included.** Its homepage frames the job as “Get chosen locally. Win more reviews, calls, and booked jobs,” and names home services first among the industries it serves. It genuinely spans jobs one and two.

![Broadly dashboard showing impressions, engagement, leads, reputation, social marketing, and campaign performance](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/broadly_dashboard_high_resolution_4x-1-1024x577.png)Broadly publishes one price: its [24/7 AI Workforce package at $799 per month](https://broadly.com/pricing-ai-workforce/). Read it carefully — the page presents $799 as “75% OFF” a stated “$3,199/month value,” so it’s a promotional rate rather than a settled list price. Ask what it renews at.

**Skip it if:** you need a phone system. Broadly is a marketing layer, not a replacement PBX.

### 6. Weave

**Weave is a communication and payments platform for healthcare practices — its own pricing page names dental, veterinary, medical and optometry as the sectors it serves.**

![Weave inbox showing customer conversations, forms, messages, and communication management tools](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/weave_dashboard_high_resolution_4x-1-1024x568.png)For contractors it’s the wrong fit: everything hangs off a patient record, and the workflows assume appointments in a practice rather than jobs across a service area. [Its pricing page](https://www.getweave.com/pricing/) gives no per-plan figures, stating only that plans start “from $199 per month.”

**Skip it if:** you dispatch technicians.

## If you’re replacing the phone system and missed calls

**If what you bought Podium for was making sure someone answers, you’re buying answering coverage, not reputation software — and the two are built and priced very differently.**

### 7. Signpost

**Signpost is an AI and live-human answering service built for the trades — its own positioning is “Signpost AI + Live Telephone Answering,” and it names electricians, general contractors, HVAC contractors, plumbers and roofers as its customers.** It pairs an AI voice receptionist with live receptionists for after-hours and complex calls, plus an inbox that also pulls in Angi, Thumbtack and Facebook leads. Pricing is published: [Standard at $199/mo, Advanced at $399/mo, Complete at $749/mo](https://www.signpost.com/pricing/), each with a $199 setup fee.

![Marketing campaign dashboard showing messages sent, Google and Facebook reviews, customer campaigns, feedback, and referrals](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/marketing_dashboard_high_resolution_4x-1-1024x759.png)**Skip it if:** you need review generation. Signpost is an answering platform, not a reputation tool.

The other route is an AI receptionist inside the system you already run, which is what FieldCamp’s does. The trade-off: the call, transcript and booking land on the same record as the job, but you don’t get a human picking up.

## If you’re staying on ServiceTitan and want the automation back

### 8. CHIIRP

**CHIIRP is the only vendor on this page confirmed as a “Certified Application” on ServiceTitan’s marketplace, which makes it the most defensible choice for a contractor keeping ServiceTitan and replacing only the communication layer.** Its [marketplace listing](https://marketplace.servicetitan.com/partner/chiirp) sits under Leads & Bookings, Marketing and Integration.

It does text, email and voice follow-up driven by real ServiceTitan data — reading live technician availability through the API to book jobs into open slots, chasing unbooked estimates, and texting back missed calls automatically. CHIIRP’s [own site](https://chiirp.com/) also names Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldPulse, FieldEdge, JobNimbus and AccuLynx as integrations, and publishes no pricing. The performance figures on its listing (“23% lift in booked jobs,” “37% conversion with an immediate text vs. 17% with any delay”) are the vendor’s own and not independently audited.

**Skip it if:** you want reviews and a phone system in the box. CHIIRP is follow-up automation, not a full Podium substitute.

## If you’re replacing the whole stack

**The fourth answer is to stop running communication as a separate product and move to field service software where messaging, webchat, calls and the customer record already live together** — no integration to certify, and no third party who can be removed from the arrangement.

That’s FieldCamp’s argument, and it replaces jobs two and three. Job one still wants a dedicated review tool alongside. It’s also the largest project on this page and the wrong one to start in peak season.

## Keeping Podium is a real option

**For a contractor mid-season on an annual contract, the right answer is often to keep Podium and revisit in the shoulder season.** That gets said less than it should on pages like this one, including by us.

Switching a communication platform isn’t a software swap. It’s number porting, A2P 10DLC re-registration, retraining every CSR on a new inbox, rebuilding templates and automations, and a stretch where response times get worse before they get better. Doing that in July, in the weeks you make your money, is how a $200-a-month saving costs you several jobs.

Keep Podium if your contract has real time left, if you use it mainly as a phone system and it works, if your review volume genuinely depends on its automated requests, or if nobody has bandwidth to own a migration right now. The middle path costs nothing: keep it running and start evaluating properly, so when the renewal date arrives you’re making a decision instead of absorbing one.

## If you’re here because of the ServiceTitan integration

**In August 2026, ServiceTitan notified contractors that its Podium integration was ending with roughly four weeks’ notice, affecting what Podium’s CEO put at approximately 1,000 shared customers.** Three things are worth knowing.

First, **the integration ending is not the same as Podium ending.** Your phone number, message history and review profiles live with Podium, not with the connector. What stops is the automatic sync of customer records and any job-triggered messaging — on-my-way texts, confirmations, reminders and automated review requests.

Second, **the two companies’ public accounts don’t reconcile.** ServiceTitan says it “tried to bring this partner into our certified program and opted not to move forward with their own certification”; Podium’s CEO says his team was blindsided and had spent months trying to get a meeting. We’ve written up [what each side said and what actually breaks](https://fieldcamp.ai/blog/servicetitan-podium-integration-ending/). Nobody outside those two companies knows which account is closer to the truth.

Third, **ask any replacement vendor about certification in writing.** ServiceTitan’s certification is tied to an ongoing commercial arrangement, so “integrates with ServiceTitan” and “will still integrate next year” are different claims. CHIIRP is the one vendor here we could confirm as certified. If the episode made you question the FSM rather than the comms tool, our [ServiceTitan review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/servicetitan/) and [ServiceTitan alternatives](https://fieldcamp.ai/alternatives/servicetitan/) pages cover that.

## What switching actually involves: porting and A2P 10DLC

**Two things delay every Podium migration, and both take longer than any vendor quotes.**

**Number porting** is moving your existing business phone number from one provider to another. It doesn’t happen automatically when you switch — you file a port request, your old carrier releases the number, the new one picks it up. It takes days to a couple of weeks. Start it early, keep both systems live through the overlap, and never schedule the cutover for a Monday in peak season.

**A2P 10DLC** stands for Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code — the US carrier rules for business texting from a normal 10-digit number. Since 2021, any business sending automated texts has to register its brand and its campaigns with The Campaign Registry through its provider. Unregistered traffic gets silently filtered by the carriers, which looks exactly like “the new software doesn’t send texts.” Registration carries a small monthly carrier fee and sits in a queue you don’t control. Our [A2P 10DLC and toll-free verification guide](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/integrations/a2p-10dlc-and-toll-free-verification) sets out what the carriers ask for, whichever platform you land on.

Most platforms pass that carrier fee through on top of the plan price, and it rarely appears in the headline number — ask about it on both sides of your comparison.

**Export first.** Before you cancel anything, export your customer list, message history and review data while your account is still fully active.

## Frequently asked questions

**How much does Podium cost per month?**

Podium doesn’t publish prices. Its pricing page asks you to select your industry and request a custom quote, with no figures shown. Third-party review sites commonly report a Core tier around $399 and a Pro tier around $599, with most single-location businesses paying $500 to $800 once add-ons and overages are counted — none of which we could confirm from Podium itself.

**What is similar to Podium?**

For review generation, NiceJob and Birdeye. For messaging and the shared customer thread, FieldCamp and Broadly. For answering missed calls, Signpost. For ServiceTitan users specifically, CHIIRP. No single product replaces all of Podium at a lower price — which is why identifying the one job you actually need is the first step.

**Who are Podium’s main competitors?**

Birdeye is the closest direct competitor on breadth. Broadly, NiceJob and Swell compete on reviews; Weave competes in healthcare; Signpost competes on answering coverage. Field service platforms with built-in communication, FieldCamp among them, compete for the messaging half of what Podium does.

**Is Podium a CRM?**

Not really. Podium keeps a contact record and conversation history, but it isn’t a sales CRM like Salesforce or HubSpot, and it isn’t a field service system — no jobs, schedules, estimates or invoices. If you need the conversation attached to a job, you need a field service platform, not a CRM or a messaging tool.

**Is there a cheaper alternative to Podium?**

Almost certainly, if you narrow what you’re buying — though since Podium publishes no price, the comparison runs against your quote rather than a list figure. NiceJob publishes $75 per month for review generation and Signpost $199 for answering coverage. Broadly at $799 is the most expensive published option here. Birdeye, Swell, CHIIRP and Podium itself publish nothing.

**Does FieldCamp replace Podium?**

Partly, and it’s worth being precise. FieldCamp replaces the messaging, webchat, calls and shared inbox — with the conversation attached to the job rather than sitting beside it. It includes a review-request template you send yourself; for automated review campaigns with tracked links and response management, pair it with a dedicated review tool like NiceJob.

**Does Podium work with ServiceTitan?**

Not through a supported marketplace integration. ServiceTitan notified contractors in August 2026 that it was ending the Podium integration, and as of 14 August 2026 Podium’s own ServiceTitan listing page returned a 404. Podium continues to work as a standalone platform; what ended is the automatic connection between the two.

**Will I lose my phone number or my reviews if I switch?**

No to both. Your number belongs to your account and can be ported on your timeline, and your review profiles on Google and elsewhere are unaffected by changing software. What stops is any automated request firing on job completion. Export your history from Podium before you cancel, regardless.

**Are Weave and Swell good Podium alternatives for a contractor?**

No. Both appear on most published Podium alternative lists and neither should. Weave’s pricing page names dental, veterinary, medical and optometry as its sectors; Swell positions itself for dental groups, DSOs and specialty care. Strong products in their markets, poor fit for a business that dispatches technicians.

**How long does switching from Podium take?**

Plan for four to six weeks, not a weekend. Number porting, A2P 10DLC registration, rebuilding templates and automations, and retraining CSRs each take real time, and A2P registration sits in a carrier queue you don’t control. Run both systems in parallel and don’t cut over in peak season.

*FieldCamp is AI-native [field service management software](https://fieldcamp.ai/) with customer communication built in, used by [HVAC](https://fieldcamp.ai/hvac-software/), [plumbing](https://fieldcamp.ai/plumbing-software/) and [electrical](https://fieldcamp.ai/electrician-software/) contractors. We compete with Podium on messaging and part of the phone system.*
