# How to Cancel Podium (2026): Notice Period, Contract Terms & What It Costs

Podium — the customer communication and lead management platform at [podium.com](https://www.podium.com/) — requires written notice of non-renewal **at least one month before the end of your current subscription term**, sent by email to support@podium.com. Miss that window and your contract renews automatically for another full term, and you are contractually committed to paying for all of it.

That is not a review-site estimate. It is Section 8.1 of [Podium’s Master Service Agreement](https://legal.podium.com/), which the company publishes in full. This guide quotes the clauses that decide what leaving costs you, and the two situations where you can exit mid-term. For the wider picture on the product and its pricing, see our [Podium review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/).

### Key facts

- **Initial term:** 12 months, auto-renewing for periods of equal duration (MSA §8.1).
- **Notice required:** written notice of non-renewal **at least one (1) month** before the term ends.
- **How to send it:** email **support@podium.com**.
- **Mid-term cancellation:** not permitted, except under two named clauses.
- **Refunds:** subscription fees are non-refundable and non-creditable, with two exceptions.
- **After termination:** Podium may delete all of your client data. Export first.

## Can you cancel Podium?

Not mid-term, in most cases. [Podium’s Master Service Agreement](https://legal.podium.com/) is explicit: *“Client cannot cancel or terminate a Subscription Term except as expressly permitted by this Section 8.1 (Term) or Section 8.3 (Termination for Cause).”*

The same section states that *“By agreeing to any Subscription Documentation, Client is agreeing to pay applicable fees for the entire Subscription Term.”*

So there are exactly three ways out of a Podium contract:

| Route | When it applies | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| **Non-renewal (§8.1)** | Written notice ≥1 month before term end | Nothing — you finish the term you paid for |
| **Termination for cause (§8.3)** | Other party fails to cure a material breach within 30 days of written notice | Nothing, if the breach stands |
| **Material service change (§2.3)** | Podium materially degrades the service you ordered | Pro-rated refund of prepaid, unused fees |

![The three ways out of a Podium contract: non-renewal under Section 8.1, termination for cause under Section 8.3, and material service change under Section 2.3](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/pd-1-three-ways-out.png)Everything else is finishing your term. Cancellation friction is also the most consistent complaint theme in Podium’s [Trustpilot reviews](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/podium.com) — users describe months of effort and continued billing — which is why getting the notice date right matters more than negotiating later. Our [Podium review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/) covers that pattern in detail.

## What is Podium’s cancellation notice period?

One month. From [Section 8.1 of the MSA](https://legal.podium.com/):

> *“the initial term for any Subscription to the Services is twelve (12) months and will automatically renew for subsequent periods of equal duration (the “Subscription Term”), unless either party gives written notice of non-renewal at least one (1) month before the end of the then-current Subscription Term. Client may give notice of non-renewal by sending an email to support@podium.com.”*

![Podium cancellation timeline showing the one-month notice deadline before the twelve-month subscription term auto-renews ](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/pd-2-notice-deadline.png)Three practical consequences:

**Find your Subscription Start Date, not your invoice date.** Section 7 states that if you pay by credit card, ACH or direct debit, Podium charges automatically *“on an auto-renew basis on your Subscription Start Date … for each subsequent Subscription Term.”* Your renewal anniversary is the day you first got access, which is not always the day you were first billed.

**Anything you added mid-term ends when your main term ends.** Section 8.1 makes additional services *“coterminous with Client’s most recent Podium platform Subscription Term.”* One notice covers everything; you do not cancel add-ons separately.

**Send it early and in writing.** Section 7 puts it plainly: *“You must cancel your Subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing the next periodic Subscription Fees to your account.”* Email support@podium.com, keep the sent copy, and ask for written acknowledgement. Diary the date 60 days out so the one-month deadline is never the day you remember it.

## When can you cancel Podium mid-contract?

Two clauses, both requiring written notice, both in the [published MSA](https://legal.podium.com/).

**Section 8.3 — Termination for cause.** Either party may terminate if the other *“fails to cure any material breach of this Agreement (including a failure to pay fees) within thirty (30) days after written notice detailing the breach.”* The notice has to detail the breach, and the 30-day cure period has to run out. It is a process, not a declaration.

**Section 2.3 — Material change to the service.** If Podium makes a modification *“that has a material adverse effect on the functionality of the Services ordered under your Subscription Documentation,”* you may terminate and receive *“a pro-rated refund of pre-paid, unused Fees for the remainder of Client’s Subscription Term.”*

Section 2.3 is the more useful of the two, and the one most contractors do not know exists. Podium commits in the same agreement to **99.0% availability** of the Services during your term. A documented, sustained failure against a published functionality or availability commitment is the kind of change this clause is written for.

One clause worth knowing in the other direction: under Section 8.2, if your account goes overdue Podium may suspend access — and you **remain liable for fees during the suspension**, unless the suspension was not your fault and ran longer than five days. Stopping payment is not a cancellation strategy.

## Is any of your Podium payment refundable?

Mostly, no. The [agreement](https://legal.podium.com/) states that *“Subscription Fees are non-refundable and non-creditable, except as expressly set forth in Sections 2.3 (Modification of the Services) and 8.3 (Termination for Cause).”*

![Podium pricing breakdown showing no published pricing, third-party reported Core and Pro tiers, and the add-on costs that bring most businesses to $500 to $800 a month ](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/podium-pricing-what-it-costs.png)Those are the same two exceptions above. There is no proration for early exit, and no refund for unused months on a term you chose not to finish.

Two related traps:

- **Free trials convert automatically.** Unless you cancel a Free Access Subscription before it lapses, *“such Services will convert to a paid Subscription and Client agrees to pay Podium the applicable Subscription Fees”* (MSA §7).
- **The renewal price is not always the signing price.** Podium does not publish pricing at all — its pricing page, [podium.com/getpricing](https://www.podium.com/getpricing), carries no figures and asks for a custom quote. Third parties commonly report a Core tier around $399/month and a Pro tier around $599, with most single-location businesses landing between $500 and $800 once add-ons, message overages and carrier fees are counted, as documented in our [Podium pricing breakdown](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/). Since you cannot benchmark the number, get the renewal rate in writing before you sign.

## What to export before you cancel Podium

Do this before you send notice. The [agreement](https://legal.podium.com/) states that *“following termination, Podium may delete all Client Data in its possession”* — and separately, that during your term Podium *“may delete Client Data no longer in active use.”*

Export:

- **Full message history** — SMS, webchat and social threads, which are your customer service record
- **Contact list** with tags, sources and any custom fields
- **Review history and response text**, if you have been collecting reviews through Podium
- **Payment records** processed through Podium Payments
- **Call logs and recordings**, if you use Podium’s phone product

Take the export while your account is fully active. An account in termination is not the moment to discover a report will not run.

## Your phone number and A2P registration

This is the part that turns a clean cancellation into three weeks of missed messages.

**Your number is portable.** It belongs to your account and can be ported to another provider, though [reviewers report](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/podium.com) the porting process being slow. Start it early and keep both systems live through the overlap — do not schedule your port for the day your term ends.

**Budget time for A2P 10DLC re-registration.** Every US business texting from a standard number carries a carrier registration, and moving to a new platform means registering again. That process takes days, not minutes, and until it clears your texts do not send. Sequence it: register on the new platform, confirm delivery, then port.

![The order to follow before cancelling Podium: export your data, register A2P on the new platform, port your number, then send written notice ](https://cms.fieldcamp.ai/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/podium-export-before-cancelling.png)

## What to switch to

What you replace Podium with depends on which part of it you actually use. Podium holds 4.6 out of 5 across 2,066 [G2 reviews](https://www.g2.com/products/podium/reviews) and our [Podium review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/) rates it 7/10 — the software is well liked, and the friction is in the contract.

- **[Podium alternatives](https://fieldcamp.ai/alternatives/podium/)** — the full comparison across review generation, webchat and payments.
- **Review generation only** — lighter, cheaper tools exist with published pricing, which is worth something on its own after a contract you could not benchmark.
- **Missed calls and after-hours answering** — this is the job most contractors are actually hiring Podium for, and it is worth separating from the messaging inbox before you buy a replacement.
- **[FieldCamp](https://fieldcamp.ai/pricing/)** — if your communication problem is really a dispatch and scheduling problem, consolidating the two removes an integration rather than replacing one.

**If you are on ServiceTitan, sequence matters.** ServiceTitan ended its Podium integration in August 2026 with roughly four weeks’ notice, affecting an estimated 1,000 shared customers, and Podium’s own ServiceTitan listing page now returns a 404. We covered [what each company said and what actually broke](https://fieldcamp.ai/blog/servicetitan-podium-integration-ending/). If you are reconsidering both, see [how to cancel ServiceTitan](https://fieldcamp.ai/blog/how-to-cancel-servicetitan/) — its termination terms are considerably more expensive, and unlike Podium it does not publish them. Our [ServiceTitan review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/servicetitan/) and [ServiceTitan alternatives](https://fieldcamp.ai/alternatives/servicetitan/) cover what replacing it involves.

**Run dispatch, scheduling and invoicing in one place**

Every integration you depend on is a decision someone else gets to make. FieldCamp keeps the core of your operation in one system, with pricing published up front.

## Frequently asked questions

****Can I cancel Podium?****

Not mid-term, in most cases. [Podium’s Master Service Agreement](https://legal.podium.com/) states that a client cannot cancel or terminate a subscription term except under Section 8.1 (non-renewal) or Section 8.3 (termination for cause). The standard route is written notice of non-renewal at least one month before your term ends.

****What is Podium’s cancellation notice period?****

One month. Section 8.1 requires written notice of non-renewal at least one (1) month before the end of the current subscription term, sent by email to support@podium.com.

****Does Podium have a contract?****

Yes. The initial term is twelve months and it renews automatically for periods of equal duration unless either party gives written notice of non-renewal (MSA §8.1).

****Will Podium refund me if I cancel early?****

No. Subscription fees are non-refundable and non-creditable, except under Section 2.3 (a material adverse change to the service, which allows a pro-rated refund of prepaid unused fees) and Section 8.3 (termination for cause).

****How much does Podium cost per month?****

Podium does not publish pricing — its [pricing page](https://www.podium.com/getpricing) carries no figures. Third-party review sites commonly report a Core tier around $399 per month and a Pro tier around $599, with most single-location businesses paying $500–$800 once add-ons, message overages and A2P carrier fees are included. See our [Podium review](https://fieldcamp.ai/reviews/podium/) for the full breakdown.

****Is Podium legit?****

Yes. Podium is an established, venture-backed software company co-founded by Eric Rea, who remains CEO, and holds 4.6 out of 5 across 2,066 [G2 reviews](https://www.g2.com/products/podium/reviews). The recurring public complaints concern contract terms, billing and cancellation rather than the software itself.

****Is Podium a CRM?****

Not really. Podium is a customer communication and lead management platform — shared inbox, webchat, reviews, payments — now marketed as an [AI lead generation platform](https://www.podium.com/). It stores contact records but is not a replacement for a field service CRM. Compare it against [the alternatives](https://fieldcamp.ai/alternatives/podium/) if that is what you need.

****Will I lose my phone number if I leave Podium?****

No. Your number belongs to your account and can be ported to another provider, though reviewers report the process being slow. Start the port early, keep both systems live during the overlap, and budget time for A2P 10DLC re-registration on the new platform.
