# Electrical contractor software that knows every panel in every property — *down to the circuit.*

Property, panels, circuits, and service plans — all first-class. AI dispatch, recurring safety inspections, flat-rate estimates, invoicing, and payments in one platform — the electrical business software residential and light-commercial electrical contractors actually run on.

## What is *electrician software?*

Electrician software is a field service platform that handles scheduling, dispatch, estimates, invoicing and customer records for electrical contractors. It replaces the spreadsheet-plus-QuickBooks setup most shops run, and adds job history tied to the property, panel and circuit.

The problem

## Most electrical shops do not have a software problem. *They have a records problem.*

Nearly every shop that switches has already bought software. Usually more than once. What breaks is not the calendar or the invoice template — it is that the record of the work is scattered across four places, so the same question has to be answered from memory every time it comes up. Four failures, and they are the same four in almost every shop.

**The second visit starts from scratch.** A technician arrives in April at an address that was worked on in March and has no way to know which panel was touched, which circuit was left isolated, or what the inspector asked to see next time. The first twenty minutes are spent recovering what the last visit already knew. Nobody logs those twenty minutes, which is exactly why they never get fixed.

**The estimate is approved once and typed twice.** Priced on a phone at the kerb, then retyped on Friday evening into whatever raises the invoice. The second typing is where the change order, the permit fee and half a box of MC cable quietly stop existing. Most **electrical business software** fixes the typing and leaves the retyping.

**Hours land on a timesheet instead of on a job.** Payroll gets paid and margin stays unknowable, because the one number that decides whether a job made money — verified hours against that job, at the rate of the person who worked them — was never captured against the job in the first place. A ledger cannot reconstruct it afterwards. Nothing can.

**Every trade the shop touches gets its own spreadsheet.** Service calls, panel upgrades, a rewire running across nine visits, and a maintenance contract are four different shapes of work. Software built for one of them turns the other three into a workaround, and the workaround is where the money leaks.

**Electrical contracting software** only helps if it holds the record in the shape the work actually has — the property, the panel inside it, the circuit on that panel, and every attendance against all three. That is the whole of what follows on this page.

01 The Electrical data model

## Electrician CRM and property records — *every panel and circuit, structured, not a notes field.*

FieldCamp ships an Electrical layout the day you sign in: a [Property → Panel → Circuit](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/electrical) hierarchy with typed fields for panel type, amperage, voltage, install date, and warranty — the panel-level tracking the enterprise platforms reserve for enterprise contracts. It doubles as your electrical CRM software — every property, owner, and service plan on one record. Service history rolls up to each panel automatically, and the moment a safety-inspection gap opens, FieldCamp flags it and drafts the win-back.

## Electrician scheduling and dispatch software — *every lead, every channel, answered and booked.*

WhatsApp, SMS, Instagram, Google, web, and the phone land in [one inbox](/ai-command-center/). The [AI receptionist](/ai-receptionist/) answers in seconds, books by service area, and the lead arrives already matched to the property and panels on file — so nothing slips and no call goes unanswered.

### Two minutes to fill the board. *Then it shows its work.*

[FieldCamp is electrical scheduling software](/scheduling/) with an [AI dispatcher](/ai-dispatcher/) that knows the truck is 80% full before adding the next job. It assigns by tech skill — licensed journeyman, panel work, permit filing, comfort with commercial — plus zone, drive time, and capacity. Every card lands with a one-click reason. An [AI matching engine](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/blog/how-ai-matches-jobs-to-technicians/) weighs license level, service zone, and drive time so the right electrician lands on each job. Because license tier matters on every electrical call, jobs route by [skill-based dispatching](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/features/skill-based-dispatching/) — apprentice, journeyman, or master. See how AI [electrical dispatch](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/industries/electrical/) handles permits, zones, and truck capacity end to end.

Auto mode fills the week the moment a job is created. Assist mode queues every assignment for your dispatcher to reviews.

## Electrical estimating and quoting software — *good, better, best, approved on the truck.*

Build a [good-better-best estimate](/electrician-software/estimate-template/) from the [flat-rate pricebook](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/products-services/price-book-and-bundles), attach the photo of the failed breaker, and let the customer approve and e-sign on the spot — it converts to an invoice in one tap. FieldCamp even drafts the quote from what the panel record already knows.

      06 Electrical maintenance software

### Maintenance plans that *actually get scheduled.*

FieldCamp is the electrical maintenance software that turns safety-inspection plans into [scheduled, recurring revenue](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/recurring-jobs). Service plan is a first-class field on the property — Active, Lapsed, or None. Plan visits get scheduled automatically; lapsed plans land in the win-back queue. See how AI keeps [recurring contracts](https://fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/use-cases/recurring-contract-management/) on schedule across the season. The AI receptionist knows the plan when they call, and so does the tech in the truck.

Recurring billing, visit chains, and reminder texts are built in — not bolted on through a third-party automation.

09 Why it matters

## Switching electrical contracting software — *three reasons electrical shops switch, and stay.*

01

### Every property has a story.

When the call comes in, the tech sees every panel, every circuit, every permit on that address — without scrolling through a notes field. Diagnoses get faster. Recommendations get smarter.

02

### Safety plans pay for themselves.

Plan status is a real field, not a tag. Visits chain. Lapsed plans land in a win-back queue. The AI receptionist upsells the right plan based on the panel age it can see.

03

### Built around your shop, not theirs.

Need permit logs, AFCI compliance checklists, or load calculations? Add a custom object — same engine, same dispatch board, same reports. It’s the electrical field service software that scales from single-site service work to multi-site contracts, with no separate compliance product to license. Tighter days come from AI [route optimization](/ai-dispatcher/features/route-dispatching/) that trims drive time between calls.

## Electrician software FAQs — *common questions electrical contractors ask.*

**What is electrician software?**

Electrician software is the all-in-one system that runs an electrical business — scheduling and dispatching technicians, tracking properties and the panels and circuits installed at each one, sending estimates and invoices, processing payments, and reporting on business health. As all-in-one electrical business software, it replaces separate scheduling, CRM, estimating, and invoicing tools. FieldCamp is electrician software built around a real data model: every property has panels, every panel has circuits, every circuit has a service history. That structure makes diagnoses faster, safety plans easier to sell, and recurring revenue more predictable.

**Does FieldCamp do electrical maintenance scheduling?**

Yes — FieldCamp is electrical maintenance software. Service plan is a first-class field on the property — Active, Lapsed, or None — not a tag bolted on. When a plan is active, visits chain automatically on the recurrence you set (annually, semi-annually, quarterly), so electrical maintenance scheduling runs itself. Reminder texts go out 48 hours before. Lapsed plans land in a win-back queue with the AI receptionist primed to renew them when the customer calls in.

**What is the best electrical scheduling software?**

The best electrical scheduling software fills the board the way a seasoned dispatcher would — matching each job to the right technician by license level (apprentice, journeyman, master), service zone, truck capacity, customer time window, and drive time, not just dropping pins on a calendar. FieldCamp’s AI dispatcher does that in about two minutes and shows the reasoning behind every assignment, so the schedule the whole shop trusts is built before the first truck rolls.

**What is the best electrical dispatch software?**

The best electrical dispatch software fills the board considering everything a real dispatcher weighs — tech license level, permit filing ability, service zones, capacity per truck in dollars and jobs, customer time windows, and drive time between stops. FieldCamp’s AI Dispatcher does that in two minutes and shows the reasoning behind every assignment. You can run it on Auto (it assigns the moment a job is created) or Assist (every assignment queues for review).

**Can FieldCamp track panels — type, amperage, install date, warranty?**

Yes — that’s the heart of how FieldCamp models electrical work. Each property holds panels, each panel holds circuit records with Panel type (Main, Sub, Transfer), Amperage, Voltage, Install date, Warranty expiry, and a Service status pill (Good, Due soon, Overdue). Service history rolls up automatically; gaps over a configurable threshold trigger a warning the tech sees on arrival.

**What about permit tracking and AFCI/GFCI compliance?**

FieldCamp’s custom-objects engine lets you add permit logs, AHJ inspection records, AFCI/GFCI compliance checklists, and load calculations as objects on the same platform — same reports, same dispatch board, same audit trail. You don’t need a separate compliance product; the data lives next to the property and panel it relates to.

**Does FieldCamp do electrical estimates, invoicing, and payments?**

Yes — estimates with good-better-best proposals, flat-rate pricebooks, photo-attached line items, and e-signature; invoices generated from the field with branded templates; payments via Tap-to-Pay, credit card, and Apple Pay; financing notes recorded on the estimate; and QuickBooks Online sync. Invoices auto-charge for service-plan customers.

**What is electrical field service management software, and is FieldCamp a fit for small shops?**

Electrical field service management software is the all-in-one system that connects the office (scheduling, CRM, invoicing) to the field (mobile app, GPS, photos, payment). FieldCamp is built to fit shops running anything from single-site service work to multi-site contracts. The data model and AI dispatch scale, and we set up your data model with you on the onboarding call.

**What is the best software for electrical contractors?**

The best software for electrical contractors is the one that carries a job from first call to paid invoice without re-keying. For most residential and light-commercial shops that means scheduling and dispatch, estimates with a price book, invoicing and payments, and customer records tied to the property, panel and circuit. FieldCamp covers that range in one system and syncs with QuickBooks or Xero for the books.

**What are some good apps for electrical contractors?**

Electrical contractors typically run three kinds of app: a field service platform for scheduling, estimates and invoicing; an accounting tool such as QuickBooks or Xero; and a reference app for code lookups and load calculations. FieldCamp is the first of those three, and replaces the spreadsheet-and-paper layer most shops still run alongside it.

**Is QuickBooks good for electrical contractors?**

QuickBooks is good at the accounting half and was never built for the field half. It does not schedule technicians, dispatch to a truck, hold a Property → Panel → Circuit history or produce an estimate on site. Most electrical shops keep QuickBooks for the books and run FieldCamp for the work, syncing invoices and payments between the two.

**What software do contractors use?**

Contractors generally run a field service management platform for scheduling, dispatch, estimates and invoicing, plus an accounting package and a payments processor. Larger shops add job costing and inventory. FieldCamp combines the field service layer with estimating, invoicing and AI dispatch, and connects to the accounting package you already use.

**What software do electrical contractors use?**

Most electrical contractors run two things: a field service platform that holds the operating record, and an accounting ledger. The field platform schedules and dispatches, holds the property and its panels, captures hours and materials on each visit, raises the invoice from that visit and takes the payment. The ledger owns the chart of accounts, the tax position and the filing. Shops doing commercial work often add a third for formal AIA payment applications, which most field platforms including FieldCamp do not produce. Beyond that, most electricians carry a separate NEC calculator app, because code maths is a different job from running a business.

**What is ERP software for electrical contractors?**

ERP means one system holding finance, payroll, inventory, purchasing and project accounting together, with the field work as one module inside it. That is a different product from field service software, and a different price. Sage, Viewpoint and Access Coins sit in that category. FieldCamp is not an ERP and does not connect to one: accounting sync covers QuickBooks Online and Xero only. If your finance function genuinely needs general-ledger-level integration, an ERP is the honest answer and the migration is a project, not a signup.

**What does electrical contractors software usually include?**

When people search for electrical contractors software they usually mean one system doing five jobs: the customer and property record, scheduling and dispatch, estimating and quoting, invoicing and payments, and the job history that ties them together. FieldCamp covers all five and holds the electrical detail generic tools drop — panel type, amperage, circuit numbers, permit numbers and inspection dates live on the property record instead of in a notes field. Card payments are supported; ACH is not.

**How is electrical contracting business software different from a general field service tool?**

A general field service tool models a visit. Electrical contracting business software has to model a job that takes several visits, carries a permit, and has an inspection that can fail and send you back. FieldCamp keeps all of it on one record — every visit, the permit number, the inspection result and the change order hang off the same job, so the second attendance is not a new job with no history. There is no offline mode; the app needs a connection.
