01 The Solar data model

## Site → Solar Project → Installed Asset — _plus the permit stack, plus the warranty clock._

FieldCamp's [Solar data model](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/solar) ships three custom records — Solar Project, Solar Permit, and [Installed Asset](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/equipment) (serial, install date, warranty, monitoring portal link). The pre-built 9-stage [lifecycle](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/stages-and-workflows) runs Lead → Permitting → Installation → PTO → Closeout.

[Hard rules](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/automations) enforce it — no advancing to Installation until every required permit is Approved. And the model is yours to [shape](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/custom-objects-and-fields): 10 field types per object, many-to-many relationships, [composable record layouts](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/record-layouts).

Site → Solar Project → Installed Asset

Installed Assets nest under the Solar Project, projects under the Site. Open one site and see every inverter, every string, every battery — with their serial, warranty clock, and monitoring portal link.

Monitoring URL is a link field

Each Installed Asset stores the SolarEdge / SMA / Huawei / Enphase portal URL as a stored link — FieldCamp doesn't pull live SCADA telemetry, the link goes straight to the OEM's portal.

Warranty clock per asset

Panel 25-yr · inverter 10-25-yr · battery 10-yr. Each Installed Asset records its OEM channel + expiry. A workflow alerts 30 days before any clock runs out.

Permit lifecycles are first-class

Building · Electrical · Fire · Interconnection — four custom records, four Applied → Approved → Closed micro-lifecycles. A hard rule blocks Installation until they're all green.

02 From inquiry to feasibility

## A solar consult booking becomes a _Site Survey record — with the roof shot, attic photo, and NEM agreement._

The [online booking widget](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/online-booking/setting-up-online-booking-in-fieldcamp) captures the inquiry — service-area gated, AI-qualified — and spawns a [Request](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/requests/requests-overview) attached to a brand-new Site Survey job.

Every artifact — drone overhead, attic photo, NEM 3.0 PDF — lands in the three-tier [file system](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/clients/client-files-documents-and-drive-fieldcamp). The Inbox auto-links the email, SMS, and call thread, and the [built-in CRM](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/clients/crm-overview-what-is-the-fieldcamp-crm) moves the lead through your stages.

03 The permit & interconnection stack

## Four permits, four lifecycles, one rule: _no install until they're all green._

Each permit is a first-class record — its own Applied → Approved → Closed lifecycle, fees, AHJ contact, stamped PDF on [Drive](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/clients/client-files-documents-and-drive-fieldcamp). A [hard rule](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/automations) blocks Installation while any required permit is Pending or Rejected.

A workflow drafts the follow-up email when a permit idles past your SLA. And the interconnection app — the one that [snags every solar project](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/stages-and-workflows) — is tracked the same way, utility case number on the record.

04 The proposal

## Cash · Loan · PPA — three tiers, one signed contract, _30% deposit captured._

One [multi-option estimate](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/estimates-invoices/estimate-options-and-templates) presents Good (cash), Better (loan), Best (PPA). The customer picks one, signs [on the spot](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/estimates-invoices/signatures-on-estimates-and-invoices), pays the [30% deposit](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/payments/deposits-request-collect-and-apply-deposits-fieldcamp) via Stripe — and the deposit carries to the install invoice automatically.

[Bundles](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/products-services/price-book-and-bundles) roll 228 kWp PV + 13.5 kWh BESS + racking + labor into one line — the customer sees one number, your bookkeeping keeps the cost detail.

05 Dispatch — NABCEP, OSHA, battery-cert

## The AI Dispatcher matches inverter-trip alerts to the right _certified tech in minutes._

Your monitoring portal emails an inverter fault; the Inbox auto-links it to the Installed Asset by serial. The [AI Dispatcher](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/what-is-ai-dispatcher) scores every available tech against the job's [required skills](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/skills-and-hierarchical-skills) — NABCEP, OSHA 30, battery-cert.

The chosen tech's day gets [re-optimized](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/calendar/route-optimization-in-fieldcamp) around the new diagnostic, and the [rules engine](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/automations) enforces the cert gate — no battery-cert, no Powerwall job.

06 The install — three days, one job

## Day 1 racking · Day 2 modules · Day 3 inverter + commissioning. _One Multi-Day Job. One invoice._

A [Multi-Day Job](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/multi-day-jobs-overview) books the crew across all three days as one block, one invoice — not three jobs stitched together. [Job Templates](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/job-types-and-templates) spin it up in one click — techs, parts, forms pre-attached.

The Day-3 [commissioning form](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/job-forms-complete-digital-checklist-system) — IV-curve per string, insulation resistance, polarity — is the same form [year-1 O&M](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/recurring-jobs) reads back from. The install record becomes the maintenance baseline.

07 Commissioning & PTO

## IEC 62446 checklist on a rooftop with _no cell signal — captured offline, synced when the truck rolls down._

Rooftops don't have signal — so [mobile forms](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/using-forms-in-the-field-mobile-guide) work fully offline, syncing photos, signatures, and table rows when the truck rolls back to LTE. The [commissioning form](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/job-forms-complete-digital-checklist-system) is the canonical evidence layer.

On PTO capture, one workflow fires the whole [stage transition](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/stages-and-workflows): every [Installed Asset](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/equipment) goes Active, OEM warranty data snapshots onto each, and the year-1 inspection lands in the [recurring series](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/recurring-jobs).

08 O&M plans & the PR-below-SLA trigger

## PR drifts to 82% and the SLA clock is ticking. _FieldCamp drafts the truck roll._

O&M plans live as Service Agreements — Basic, Standard, Premium — whose terms auto-populate every [recurring visit](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/job-management/recurring-jobs) and invoice. Performance Ratio is logged on the inspection form, not streamed — FieldCamp doesn't pull live SCADA data.

A workflow watches that field — PR drops below the SLA and FieldCamp drafts the diagnostic, proposes the closest NABCEP PVCMS tech, and [re-optimizes](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/calendar/route-optimization-in-fieldcamp) the day. [Auto-pay](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/payments/auto-deducting-payments-for-invoices-and-recurring-jobs) handles plan billing, warranty channels keep RMA case numbers on the asset, and the [Command Center](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/getting-started/command-center-ai-chat-for-field-service-management-fieldcamp) answers "show all batteries out of warranty in 90 days."

09 Get paid & report to the asset owner

## Install invoice, recurring O&M auto-charge, monthly owner PDF — _all from the same record._

The [install invoice](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/estimates-invoices/creating-invoices) nets the 30% deposit and bills the balance; the [Stripe card payment](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/payments/payments-overview) lands; the O&M plan starts [auto-charging](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/payments/auto-deducting-payments-for-invoices-and-recurring-jobs) monthly. [QuickBooks, Xero, or Wave](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/integrations/connect-quickbooks-xero-and-wave-to-fieldcamp) handles the books.

The monthly asset-owner report — PR trend, visits, open RMAs, warranty status per asset — exports from [Analytics](https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/analytics/analytics-overview) in one click. Not lender-grade out of the box — but one place instead of four spreadsheets.

10 Capabilities

11 Why solar O&M software still feels broken

## Monitoring tells you something happened. Checklist tools tell you what to do. _Neither runs the truck._

Three categories of tool, three jobs done well — and one gap they all leave open for the contractor running the day. FieldCamp owns that gap — same record set, lead through year-25, anchored on the documented Solar data model.

12 Related trades we run

## Solar's neighbors — _same crews, same trucks, often the same customer._

The same C&I contractor often runs solar + EV + HVAC + electrical under one roof. Each shares the Property → Project → Installed Asset spine, the recurring O&M cadence, the OEM warranty grind — and a FieldCamp page built for its actual lifecycle.

13 FAQ

## Solar O&M software, _answered honestly._

What FieldCamp does — and what it deliberately doesn't — for the solar O&M contractor. If we don't ship something — live SCADA integrations, drone-vision panel analysis, automated OEM RMA filing — we say so.

What is solar O&M software?

Solar O&M software is the platform a solar install / operations and maintenance contractor uses to run the field-execution side of a PV asset's lifecycle — work orders for inverter faults, recurring inspections and module cleanings, IEC 62446 commissioning checklists, OEM warranty tracking, permit lifecycles (Building / Electrical / Fire / Interconnection), and customer billing for ongoing O&M plans. It's distinct from SCADA / monitoring platforms (which capture telemetry) and from generic CMMS tools (which only handle work orders) — solar O&M software owns the contractor's day from lead through PTO through year-25, on the same record set. FieldCamp ships a documented Solar data model — see https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/solar.

Does FieldCamp pull live production data from SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, or Huawei?

No. FieldCamp does not pull live SCADA or production telemetry from any monitoring platform. The Installed Asset record stores the monitoring portal URL as a link field, and Performance Ratio is captured on the inspection form (read from the monitoring portal at the visit). When the monitoring portal emails a fault alert, that email lands in the FieldCamp Inbox and gets auto-linked to the Installed Asset by serial. The work-order, dispatch, and warranty pieces live in FieldCamp — the telemetry lives in your monitoring platform. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/inbox/inbox-overview.

How does FieldCamp handle the PR-below-SLA trigger?

Performance Ratio is captured as a numeric field on the inspection form (logged from the monitoring portal at the visit). A workflow watches that field per Installed Asset — when PR drops below the SLA threshold defined in the O&M Service Agreement, the workflow drafts a diagnostic visit and the AI Dispatcher proposes the closest NABCEP PVCMS + battery-cert tech. It is a workflow-on-logged-field model, not a live SCADA feed. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/workflow-automation/workflows-overview.

Is FieldCamp a CMMS, an FSM, or a SCADA platform?

FieldCamp is a contractor-execution platform — it sits between SCADA (upstream telemetry) and the rest of the back-office (QuickBooks / Xero / Wave). Monitoring platforms like AlsoEnergy and Power Factors own the data brain; solar CMMS tools like Scoop and 60Hertz own the inspection checklist; horizontal FSM tools like Jobber and ServiceTitan don't ship a Solar layout at all. FieldCamp owns the full Site → Solar Project → Installed Asset → recurring O&M record path with permits, warranties, and AI dispatch in the same place. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/solar.

Can FieldCamp track each permit lifecycle — Building, Electrical, Fire, Interconnection?

Yes — each permit is a first-class record with its own Applied → Approved → Closed lifecycle, fees, AHJ contact, and stamped PDF on Drive. A hard rule blocks the Solar Project from advancing to Installation stage while any required permit is Pending or Rejected, so scheduling can't happen on a missing approval. The interconnection application (the one that snags every project) is tracked the same way, with the utility's case number on the record. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/permits.

How does FieldCamp handle OEM warranty channels (SolarEdge, SMA, Huawei, Sungrow, Enphase)?

The OEM warranty channel is logged on the Installed Asset record (panel 25-yr, inverter 10-25-yr, battery 10-yr) alongside the serial, install date, and warranty expiry date. When a unit fails, the tech files the RMA in the OEM portal and logs the case number back on the Installed Asset — FieldCamp does not automatically file RMAs with OEM portals (no direct API integration). A workflow alerts you 30 days before any warranty expires. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/warranties.

Does FieldCamp support drone thermography inspections?

FieldCamp captures drone IR photos and provider PDF/GeoJSON reports as file attachments on the inspection form and on the Installed Asset record — the actual computer-vision panel-fault analysis (hot-spot detection, microcrack identification) happens in your drone provider's tool (Sitemark Aerial, Heliolytics, Raptor Maps, Above Surveying). Once their report is back, you upload it and create per-panel work orders in FieldCamp from it. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/clients/client-files-documents-and-drive-fieldcamp.

Can a small C&I O&M shop use FieldCamp without buying SCADA from scratch?

Yes — that's the wedge. You forward your monitoring platform's alert emails to a FieldCamp inbox address; the Inbox auto-links them to the Installed Asset by serial; the AI Dispatcher proposes the right NABCEP-certified tech; route-optimization re-orders the day to fit the new diagnostic. You keep your existing monitoring platform (or your inverter's free portal); FieldCamp owns the work-order, recurring-O&M, and billing layer. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/ai-dispatcher/what-is-ai-dispatcher.

Does FieldCamp work for residential install + ongoing O&M, or just one?

One record set carries through the full lifecycle — Lead → Site Survey → Design → Permitting → Interconnection → Installation → Inspection → PTO → Closeout — and then the same Solar Project and Installed Asset records feed the O&M phase: recurring inspections, warranty walks, RMA tracking, PR trending, and monthly auto-charge for the O&M plan. Install contractors who also do O&M (and vice-versa) get one source of truth instead of two systems handing off at PTO. See https://docs.fieldcamp.ai/data-model/service-agreements.
